| ~ Haunted Nonsense ~ Jesse E. Larson is host to numerous unrelated titles, some of which include barbering and broomstick-watching – and on occasion, chimney-sweeping, crayoning, and hiding in bell towers – but most notably, illustrating. When not confined to the shadows of an ivy embraced abbey or the attic of a house that does not exist, he attempts to compose to paper visuals of a nonsensical nature with a disposition of mystery, monstrosity, and the macabre. Other times he pretends he is a pirate. An interest in the visual arts was instigated many years ago when he was visiting a rookery while abroad in Romania. It so happened that during this time one of the birds engaged him in conversation, and he having penned a quick sketch of the Parachute Jump – for a visual representation was politely requested – was told by the fowl that the depiction had been very fine. This gracious bit of praise influenced further experimentation and has continued to the present. In the mid years of the millennium he made the acquaintance of Florence Ivy, a shop proprietor in Mastic Beach, who peddled various forms of unique curios and literature, and was the pet of a large tabby named Fred. They became excellent friends, her, often assisting him with elliptic information and the occasional series of photographs to aid in visualizing unconventional perspectives, and he, providing her with illustrations to merry the shop’s website and post. Being as well, an important voice in the conceptualization of 13th Floor Productions – an eccentric greetings card company owned by John B., a fellow authour, for which Mr. Larson provides the illustrations for a portion of holiday correspondences – she continues to run the shop, Amalthea’s Attic, to this day. It was during the advent of this relationship that Mr. Larson made the acquaintance of David Sona, an authour based in Chicago expressing similar interests and appreciations to his own. They began collaboration on several children’s books - Mr. Sona providing the story and text, and Mr. Larson, the illustrations. As of date, they have composed and assembled several works together that still remain on the shelf, and have completed one book to be released soon, which is a brilliant little scary-tale that must remain nameless at present. David Sona and Jesse Larson continue to collaborate steadily, and both own an impressive collection of monster records of which they both are particularly fond. He has most recently been captivated by the charming Serena Valentino, a singularly quick-witted and resplendent comic book writer and novelist. Being of kindred spirits, the two have since investigated what happens when the skeleton in the closet starts to dance, and may soon begin an anticipated collaboration. As well as illustrating, Mr. Larson also writes. An admirer of nonsense and mystery, his compositions all exhibit appreciation for both, and he is presently in production of several projects of his own that he has authoured as well as illustrated.
